Milkwood Foundation is a not-for-profit organization. We empower and support individuals by encouraging them to create their own music, oral histories, radio documentaries, and other types of sound art with Milkwood's mobile recording studios. We collaborate with a variety of people, especially underserved populations--including at-risk youth, hospice patients, people with disabilities, and senior citizens. All pieces are preserved on compact discs and returned to the artists.

Milkwood Foundation also preserves recordings by displaying them on the Internet via ChicagoSoundMuseum.org. This allows these oral histories to be preserved, heard, and seen by new and greater audiences throughout the world.
